Used to be very accessible, ut ever since it was changed so that things automatically go to the cloud player, it's not. Have any of you had this problem for mp3 downloads and if so how did you bipass it, or have you?

The stuff still goes to your cloud player, a great place for it to go. You can set up your computer to automatically download the tracks, or after you buy it, simply keep going down and it says something like, now that your music is in the cloud player download it to your computer.
You hit that and set the computer up on the next page.
With Jaws I look up near the top to find the yes and no button. It ask if I want to make this computer automaticly download.
Even in the Cloud player it is really easy to get your music.
If you are looking for instructions please say, and I'll write it out step by step. I like Amazon, and find it accessible.

Ah, it's been a couple of weeks since I've downloaded anything from there. Thanks for this info.

i only ever downloaded 1 track from the amazon MP3 store- and that was because no matter where i looked, i couldn't find it anywhere.

it seemed easy enough

Its easy. I buy almost all my music there, because of the ease, and pricing. Sometimes I'll do iTunes, or Rhapsody, but when it comes to price Amazon almost always has the better one.
Even before the iCloud storage they were great about replacing items you lost. I had a hard drive crash, and ask if I could get my content back and they made it available to me again.
I use Jaws, but in this case I don't think it has an advantage over any other screen reader, because Amazon is basickly web browsing. Nothing difficult.
I have not had success with the cloud drive and have written them about this, but the Cloud player works great except for uploading, and this might be because I don't have a paid account.
I have been able to get a few things uploaded, but not easy, downloading, finding and playing your music in the player is a snap however.

have downloaded a few R&B albums that are underground and that iTunes doesn't have recently. It works great and after purchase there is the download to the comp button.

iTunes works nicely as well, providing you've got scripts to preview, or you know what you want.
That is my experience.
Amazon works for anyone any screen reader.

Amazon used to work really well until it started using the clowd player, now I don't have as much luck with it but I figured out how to work it now. It's just that sometimes ie8 rejects the downloads but when you use chrome it's better.

The Amazon MP3 downloader needs to be installed and running I find for best results. Sometimes if you have it installed, but it is not on is is not found and Amazon thinks you need to reinstall it.

Post 10 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 03-Jan-2013 12:00:07

Here is how I use Amazon services.
For this posting my setup is Windows 7 and Jaws 12, with IE 9 as my browser. It is my personal experience that Amazon will work with XP up through Windows 8 and with Jaws, and I think due to it just being basically web browsing, any screen reader.
Note, the browser set as default on your computer makes a difference. The reason for this is Amazon tools, “Amazon MP3 downloader, and cloud player,” use the default browser. Mine is IE 9, but Amazon works with all of them available for the PC.
If you like your chosen browser you can use it for Amazon. I personally prefer IE, and FireFox, I don’t have an easy time with Chrome for purchasing on Amazon.
To get started, I get the tools setup first. On any page in the Amazon MP3 store find “getting started.”
On that page you’ll find much about the cloud player, and a help section.
I click on the manage settings on that page; sign in, because I think it is the most accessible way to get it done.
When I finished, I get back on the getting started page, or find a link on the page I’m on and launch the cloud player.
If you’re players empty, click on the search for music link, or use the search box and buy something. If you’ve got music download something.
I’ll say exactly how later when I post about the cloud player.
On your first download you are invited to install the Amazon MP3 downloader, if you don’t already have it. If you already have it installed, open it up before you download. I do this because sometimes Amazon doesn’t see it on your computer, so ask you to reinstall it.
To find it if you have it, go to your programs, Amazon, and it is there. I like to put a shortcut to it handy someplace, so I don’t have to look for it.

The Amazon MP3 Downloader is located under program files under Amazon when installed with its default settings. If using Windows 8 it is called an app, and can be located on the start/metro screen, or under apps. With Windows Vista, 7, and 8 it can be searched for by typing Amazon in the search box.
It has settings, and these are found by pressing the alt key and moving around with arrows. By default, it creates a folder in your music folder called Amazon, and all content purchased can be found there. It also puts the music in your Windows media player, and opens it when items are downloaded. You’ll learn that all this can be changed by clicking on preferences. I like setting these up before I download.
Problems I’ve encountered; when I go back to the suggested link after installing the downloader, it doesn’t work well, so I just start over. After you have it and if you open it before you get started you’ll not have this issue.
I like to create a shortcut for it, because it makes it easy to locate when I am ready to shop.
When downloading choose open, not save. The MP3 downloader will announce it is working, and depending on your screen reader settings will tell you what it is doing as it works.

Amazon’s cloud player is easy and accessible to use. After you have installed the Amazon MP3 downloader, you should find you have a shortcut on your desktop to launch it. If not after you purchase your first song it should get there.
If not, on any page in the Music store you’ll find a launch link, or as posted under the getting started.
Here is how I use it, and remember I’m using IE, but your default browser will be the one you’ll be using.
I launch it, and if not signed in I do so.
If I want to shop for music directly I click “MP3-Music-Download-B” and that takes me to the store.
The search box directly under that link is the one I use to search my music collection stored in the player. Example, I want to hear T.I, or a specific song, or type of music/ R and B, I type my request there. I have not really played with the import music feature, or the match service that comes with the premium player, so can’t talk much about it yet.
If I want to download, play, delete, or add to a playlist something I either search for it directly, or use the sub titles, songs, Albums, Artist, Genres. Clicking on one of these takes me to that list in my collection.
Example, I want to download, Moon Shine, by Bruno Mars, I can just type “moon Shine” in the search box and I’ll get a song list with things with some of these words in it. If I want to be specific, I ask specifically.
Now I’ve found what I want, I check the box directly above it; go back up the page where I find a list, of selections of what to do with it.
The check box directly above title, is the one you use to select all showing on the page.
Example, I want to add a complete album to a playlist, I find that album, and instead of checking each song individually, I just check that first box, and all is selected.
Near the bottom of the player you’ll find stuff Amazon wants to suggest you get, due to the things you have purchased. Under that you’ll see the flash player.
Note, you’ll need the latest version of Adobe Flash Player to keep current with changes to this product.
If you select play, your music plays in the flash player just like any other flash content.
Also notice I have not talked about every link on the page, because I feel these explain themselves. If you want post a specific question and if I can I’ll answer it.
Problems I have are, all the links don’t seem to work for me, such as the “view more options, after each song or item, but I don’t see what else it can do for me I can’t already do.
Next, I can’t always get the list on a page to show me more than is showing. It shows about 27 items, but I have many more, so if I’m using the player I have to know exactly what I want.
I mostly use it for storage, and downloading things I know I have, or playing a playlist I’ve created, or genres I like.
You can use it on any computer you can sign in on, because it is web based.

Buying music from Amazon is easy. To get their I either, click on the link in the cloud player, find what I want while in Amazon’s shop, or just type the web address
www.amazon.com/music
That works on some browsers, but not all.
After I locate what I want I click on the buy button. Depending on how your account is setup just doing that will bring the product and the next thing you’ll do is download it or listen to it in the player. Mine is setup to always ask before completing a purchase, and that check box is found on the next page if you’ve not done it already. You may need to select your payment source as well.
Depending on how you’ve got your tools setup, the product goes to your Cloud player, and either is ready to download, or not, and this computer I’m using for this posting it is not.
After you have it you’ll be on the page that tanks you, and that page allows you to either play your purchase now, or download it to your computer. Remember, the cloud player is web based, so you can buy something on any computer, listen to it, but not download it until you are ready.
If I select download to my computer, on the next page, using IE, things get weird. You may encounter the message “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage “and all the stuff that goes with these. You also find you are on the page asking you to select your automatic download settings.
I ignore it all, and keep going down until I find the question” Would you like to automatically download Amazon MP3 purchases that have been saved to your Cloud Player? This setting will only apply to this computer.”
I go on and click no thanks. You can check the box that says “don’t ask me again” as well before you click your answer.
I selected no thanks, so I’m back on the thank you page.
Note, if this is a problem, remember the music is in the cloud player, so doing a search for it anytime you are ready will get it downloaded to the computer of your choice.
I don’t have to click download to my computer again, because my download is now ready in my browsers downloads section, and depending on the browser you are using, and settings, you click open, not save.
If the computer you are using has the downloader installed, remember to open it before you buy. If not, or you don’t know, it will open, or you’ll be asked to download it.
To find your music look at the MP3 downloader and it will tell you exactly where your music is, or you can look at its settings to learn.

Recently Amazon has added a service called AutoRip.
In short, if you purchase a CD from them they will put the MP3 version of it in your cloud player.
This enables you to not have to do the ripping and moving yourself to get your CD content on your portable devices. Amazon’s cloud player is available for them, so it saves you a bit of work.
Specification wise and some people feel CD’s sound better sounding then MP3’s for the high end home or car stereo.
The CD’s are cost the same and are nothing different.
For us accessibility is exactly the same and you will not find an AudoRip button in your cloud player.
For more on AutoRip see

Do they have vinyl only tracks as well?

Post 18 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 17-Jan-2013 21:12:44

If you are asking do the carry vinyl records yes. Now if you are asking if they put the vinyl in the Cloud player no.
What I mean by that is MP3's are maybe recorded from the vinyl, but are not the same.

Where’s my stuff? Smile.
Sometimes the Amazon MP3 downloader and Cloud player just don’t work as expected. Of course the best source of help would be Amazon’s help section, but I’ll give you a few ideas to why you can’t get your music on your computer or your music to play.
The Amazon MP3 downloader is nothing more than a plug in for your browser. Depending on the browser you wish to use, it must be enabled, or it will not work even if you have it installed on your computer.
To check to learn if the Amazon MP3 downloader is abled, open your browser and go to the tools section. I press alt+T to get to mine.
Next arrow down to manage add- ons, open it and check. Chances are if you able it will work.
Remember I like to open it up before I start shopping so that it is ready.
If you want to download music directly from the cloud player the computer you are using must be authorized on the account you want to retrieve the music from. I have explained how to download it, but if your computer is not authorized you’ll receive a message saying you need to do this.
On that page IE will say it can’t display the web page, but ignore this and go down to find the section. After you name the computer, if you decide to change it the okay and cancel buttons might be a bit difficult to find separately. I just hit the enter key on the space I hear them, and this usually works.
The Amazon Cloud player can be used from any computer with any browser after you sign in to your account. If your music simply isn’t there the browser’s cache needs to be cleared. You may even need to reset it completely. You’ll also need the latest version of Adobe Flash Player for your browser and it also must be enabled.
If using Windows Vista through 8, you’ll want to make sure the browser’s volume in the volume mixer is not muted and up enough to hear.
Using Jaws, and if the computer is set up as Microsoft installed the Windows, I press Jaws key, or insert+F11 to get to the system tray. I arrow down to speakers and hit enter. Open the volume mixer and find the browser you are using sound settings.
Enjoy the music!
